“I met the greatest group of women today! This morning there was a link on the Susan G Komen message boards regarding a bunch of breast cancer survivors riding from Los Angeles to San Francisco on Harleys. When I looked up the information, would you believe they were going to be in Santa Cruz today? I knew I needed to meet these powerful women. So I headed down to Santa Cruz Harley Davidson to show my support and in the process met amazing, kick ass women!” - [Cheryl Gorham]

On February 7th, 2008 Cheryl Gorham was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then everyone has asked “what can we do?”. Well now there IS something you can do - we all can.
My husband (Simon Williams), along with Eddy Gonzales (Sheryl’s husband) and fellow biker Steve Metz race motorcycles with the American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM), a California based road racing club. The club races about once a month from March to October at three different locations, Infineon Raceway (Sonoma), Thunderhill (Willows) and Buttonwillow Race Park (Buttonwillow). Once a year there is a 4 hour endurance race along with the regular race weekend.
For this year’s 4-hour endurance race, the “Ducs for a Cure” team members have decided to raise $10,000 for “Susan G Komen for the Cure“. Simon, Steve and Eddy are all committed to helping end breast cancer forever with their donations and donations from family, friends, co-workers, corporate sponsors and friends of friends.
The AFM 4 hour motorcycle endurance race will be held at Infineon raceway on Sept. 27th at approximately 11am and the team will be racing a Ducati against stiff competition for 4 hours!
If you’d like to make a donation, anything at all, then you can do so here. However, if you’re in the area then please drop by and see us. You’ll even get a ribbon sticker to show your support to Cheryl and all the other brave women like her! We will be accepting donations all weekend, and we will be at the track from Friday to Sunday.
We are each playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen for the Cure end breast cancer forever. Remember that your donation could make a meaningful difference.
Thanks for supporting us!
“I am deeply touched by the support from Eddy’s fellow racers since I was diagnosed in February. There are always hugs and words of encouragement along with the little pink Cheryl stickers the racers run on their bikes. THANK YOU AFM RACERS!!!”
