Thanks for the props and also for the HEPA advice! I will be phasing out certain products from my home over the next year or so and a HEPA vacuum is definitely on the list (along with new mattresses as per the video above) - it's just a shame I can't afford to do it all right away. I love the APAPT list. Another easy preventative measure is have everyone take off their shoes before entering your house. And if budget allows, buy a true HEPA vacuum, and also if possible, a true HEPA air filter or two for the main areas of your home-- that helps eliminate any toxic chemicals that have adhered to dust, like flame retardants from furniture and electronics.
